What to Expect
Professional practices are regulated and enforced by the State of Georgia Licensing Authority and under the American Massage Therapy Association, which maintain protocols for sanitation, hygiene, usage of sheets or draping to protect client privacy and professional conduct.
It is important that you be comfortable at all times and able to relax. The more relaxed you are the better results can be obtained through massage of the muscles. The muscles will not relax if you are tense. It is for this reason that massage therapist often employ relaxing music and soft lighting and a generally comfortable and pleasing atmosphere. The table will also be comfortable, and you will be covered with sheets or blankets as necessary and the temperature managed to that you are not too cool or warm.
The therapist will work on different parts of the body on at a time in sequence, uncovering only that part being worked on. Problem areas or injury or tension will be given extra attention. There may be some questions to make sure there are no medical contraindications for particular techniques. Also aromatherapy may be employed in the air to sooth and relax or on the muscles to enhance spot treatments.
